Introducing Spookly!

We carved and decorated our pumpkins tonight!

We tried to start off with Mackenzie’s.. but the decorating kit that we bought was too big for the pumpkin and Mackenzie was having more fun sticking the foam stickers to herself and the table, then attempting to eat the pumpkin, so we gave up and let her do her thing.

We moved on to Braden’s Captain America pumpkin.  I’ve never used these little inserts before, but they were cute and super easy. I cut the holes and Braden pushed the parts in.

Next up was the big pumpkin that we were going to attempt to carve. We are far from pros, so we went with an easy design. Adam cut the top off, cleaned the inside out, and put the template on the pumpkin while Braden inspected his work.

Then it was time to carve!

All done! Braden decided to name his jack-o-lantern Spookly!

Yes, Spookly. As in Spookly the Square Pumpkin! What? You haven’t been watching it all month long?? Then he insisted that we needed candles to put it him right away. We ran to the store to pick them up and put Spookly, Captain America, and Mackenzie’s not quite a cat pumpkin out on the porch.. and I failed to take a picture. Tomorrow, promise!

Happy Birthday Mackenzie!!

How is this possible? I cannot believe that a year ago, I spent the afternoon trying to decide if I was in labor or not. Then rushing to the hospital once I realized that I was (and by realize, I mean my doula told me to get my toosh to the hospital ASAP) actually in labor. And then meeting her. My beautiful girl. How has it been a year?

We spent the day at home, relaxing mostly. I’ve been a go-go-go person for so long but with the kids, it’s so nice to have at least one day a weekend to just hang out together and focus on our little family. We spent today showering our girl with so much love and attention. She’s made our family complete and we are all so much happier with her here.

We had breakfast and Braden tried to teach his Darlin’ how to make funny faces at the camera.

He just loves her so much. I could sit and watch them together all day. I really hope they keep their close relationship. It feels funny to say that about a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old.. but I really do.

How did I get so lucky?

While Mackenzie was down for her morning nap, Braden and I ran out to Target and Publix to pick up cupcakes and a card for Mackenzie. He insisted that she needed balloons and party hats too. I was just going to sign his name on the card from all of us, but he picked out his own card and wrote inside of it too. He was so careful and so particular about it. He wanted it to be just right for his baby.

After her nap, Mackenzie checked out her goodies and posed for a few pictures.

Mackenzie was super excited about opening presents. Not that she really knows what that is yet, but Braden was excited, so she was excited!

Finally, time for cupcakes! Most of the time, the first birthday is the little ones first taste of sweets.. umm.. yeah, well, it wasn’t for Mackenzie. She is an old pro and dug right in.

Happy Birthday to the most wonderful little girl in the whole wide world. I am so blessed to be your mama and I am so excited to see what the next year has in store for us. You have brought so much joy and happiness into our lives. It’s so hard to remember what life was like without your beautiful blue eyes and that crazy happy smile. I hope that you know just how much Daddy, Braden, and I love you!

Happy Birthday Adam!

Adam’s birthday actually isn’t until tomorrow, but we decided to celebrate today since Mondays are usually chaotic around here. We didn’t plan anything big, just went out to dinner with my parents and then went home for his favorite dessert, cheesecake.

Braden is all about birthdays and of course, had to help Daddy blow out the candles.

I didn’t get a picture of him in them, but Adam got a new pair of sunglasses for his birthday. They look an awful lot like his old ones to me, but he’s happy, so I guess that is what matters.

Happy 36th Birthday, Adam!! We love you and are so lucky to have you!

Sneak Peek!

We did family pictures/Mackenzie’s First Year/Braden is 4 (aka, it’s been a while, so get it all!) pictures with my photographer friend, Amanda, of Photography by A. Dennette.

As usual, she did a great job. I can’t wait to get the rest!

Watch out, Daddy is driving!!

No, serioulsy. Watch out!

Adam backed my car into his car. In our driveway.

I told him that when I get a new car, he is not allowed to drive it. Oh, and the kids aren’t allowed to eat in it. You would not believe the goldfish and cheerios that I found in the back seat. Ick.

So yeah, this face? Totally warranted.

Such a happy girl.. especially since Mommy decided to take the keys from Daddy 😉

All dressed up..

.. with nowhere to go?!

I ordered this adorable tutu for Mackenzie to wear for her birthday party. I figured it was probably a good idea to put it on her a few times before the party, so she didn’t freak out about it.

Apparently that was not necessary, she loved it.

Almost as much as she loves her Daddy.

But not nearly as much as she loves her “Bubba”.

Just for the record, that last one was totally not staged. B was in his playroom watching tv and she wandered in there and snuggled up to him. She loves him more than anyone and he adores her. They are so sweet together. It’s so different having a girl. Braden is as sweet as can be, of course.. but Mackenzie is just so snuggly and happy. Except when she is being crazy.
